2013 Ford Fusion wins Green Car of the Year at 2012 LA Auto Show

Every year, the Green Car Journalmakes a list of all-new vehicles and then whittles it down to finally show a winner at the Los Angeles Auto Show autel service. This year, the finalists were the 2013 Dodge Dart Aero, the 2013 Ford C-MAX, the 2013 Ford Fusion, the 2013 Mazda CX-5 SKYACTIV, and the 2013 Toyota Prius c.

The winner was ultimately chosen as the 2013 Ford Fusion because of its triple-tap approach to green driving and its mass-market appeal.

"The groundbreaking 2013 Ford Fusion not only significantly reduces petroleum use, CO2 emissions and overall environmental impact, but is priced to encourage the kind of sales volume that can truly influence environmental improvement,"said the Green Car Journal in a press release.

The Fusion starts at $21,700 with a 34mpg EPA highway rating and offers several options to improve on that scan tools, all within realistic price ranges. The EcoBoost option boosts it to 37mpg (33mpg with the more powerful engine option) and the hybrid option gets a beautiful 47mpg city AND highway. Finally, the Fusion Energi is a plug-in hybrid option that is expected to be rated at 100 MPGe.

Ford is bringing its game and introducing its new "Power of Choice" plan to offer several efficiency options on the same platform using the Fusion and C-MAX vehicles as the flagships.
